Students’ Union awards to honour outstanding achievements

The 12th annual Wolverhampton University Students’ Union awards are set for this week – and they are bigger than ever.

The glitzy event is due to take place on Thursday, May 18, at the Molineux stadium’s Hayward Suite.

A new category this year is Outstanding Contribution to the Student Community Experience, which recognises an external organisation that has helped improve life for students in Wolverhampton, especially in light of the cost of living crisis.

The shortlist for Placement Provider of the Year features two local primary schools – Highfields and Northwood Park – and the palliative care team at New Cross Hospital.
There are 21 categories in all, including Lecturer of the Year and SU Student Staff Member of the Year.

Students’ Union CEO Nirmla Devi MBE said: “There are so many unsung heroes out there, people and organisations that go above and beyond to help students.

“This is the perfect opportunity for us to formally recognise and reward that commitment and achievement and thank the academic staff and external partners who help to enrich and improve the university experience.

“It is wonderful to see so many nominations this year – we hope this will continue to grow and expand so that more people can get the recognition they deserve.”
