The charity Newlife has launched a new online shop offering designer clothes at bargain prices to help raise vital funds after lockdown forced its seven stores to close.

Newlife now offers a range of clothes, footwear and accessories for sale on online fashion marketplace Depop.

The Depop store includes items from big designer names like Givenchy, Moschino and Gucci alongside items from more mainstream brands like Fila and Converse, all of which can be found in Newlife’s retail stores.

Among the high-end items on the Depop platform are a ladies Gucci T-shirt that normally sells for around £340 and is listed for £99. A pair of trainers that normally sell for around £150 are on sale at £57.

Sheila Brown OBE, CEO and co-founder of the Staffordshire-based charity and retailer, said: “We are so excited to launch on Depop and to offer designer clothes at bargain prices.

“This is sustainable fashion at its best and we have had a great response so far – there really is something for everyone.

“We are having to change our business to meet the times we live in and this means, even though our stores are closed, we can still offer valuable help to vulnerable children.”

Newlife raises money for equipment to help disabled and terminally-ill children and has seven stores across the UK.

The flagship Newlife SuperStore and home store, both in Hemlock Way, Cannock, and its five other stores – in Market Drayton, Birmingham, Merseyside, Heanor in Derbyshire and a pop-up shop in Yeovil – have all had to close in line with the recent lockdown.

The charity already sells items on eBay and has a click and collect service for homewares locally.

Sheila said the eBay platform launched around four years ago and had helped to bring in vital funds during the initial lockdown in 2020, but further changes had to be made as the charity’s income continued to be hit.

The Depop store already has hundreds of followers and Sheila said she was confident it would be a huge success.

Newlife’s clothes are mostly brand new, with some customer returns, and are sold at a fraction of their original price.
